Win A Pushbike ?

Oct 08 2010 Published by under Uncategorized

I have spent the last three mornings doing a Utility Warehouse Win A Mini Free Prize Draw event at a local Garden Centre.

As mentioned in a previous post it’s a fairly simple idea – the company gives a Mini as the star prize for an annual prize draw , people fill in their details and have the choice of answering some questions about their Utility usage .

On previous events we had some comments about Minis – ie. ” Bet it’s not a real one !” , ” It’s not a Mini it’s a BMW ! ” so you can imagine my confidence when I knew that this time the company had amended the rules and offered £10,000 as a cash alternative if an entrant did not want to take the Mini as the star prize .

But , as usual – there’s always one – speaking to someone yesterday and mention that the star prize is either a new BMW Mini One or £10,000 cash and I get the reply ” I ride a push bike – can I have a push bike instead ?”

The Wrong Type of Lamppost ?

Oct 04 2010 Published by under Uncategorized

Noticed a coverage update today from the company installing a WiFi System in the Highworth area. Apparently most of Highworth is now covered but there are still some areas where there is no coverage . This is due to the fact that the kit is mounted on lampposts and apparently it is felt that adding Wireless kit to concrete lampposts may “pose a weight threat to the structural integrity of the post”.Wireless kit has to be mounted on modern steel lampposts thus the company will need the concrete posts replaced if they are to cover the concrete post areas .

Remind me not to go anywhere near concrete lamposts in Highworth because if the addition of a small Wireless Access Point causes them structural problems then they are best avoided !

Good excuse, though – ” the wrong kind of lamppost”  beats” the wrong kind of leaves on the line”  classic any day !
