The Barnet Bombardment

Sep 24 2011 Published by under Uncategorized

Off to the Theatre Of Dreams ( a.k.a. The County Ground ) this afternoon to see the League Two fixture between Swindon and Barnet – a loss at Burton last week left Town fans hoping the three points would be in evidence this afternoon to lift us up the table .

After the first ten minutes it didn’t look good – Barnet put together some decent attacks and looked dangerous . Then , against the run of play we scored and from then onwards it was one way traffic with Swindon coming away with an incredibly easy 4-0 win .

So , a good afternoon – scored four goals , kept a clean sheet , kept to the diet and avoided the burger van and remembered to take my camera in order to post a picture on today’s blog post!

The Feed-In Formulation

Sep 18 2011 Published by under Uncategorized

Off to the Utility Warehouse MAD ( Massive Action Day ) Conference at the Centaur Centre , Cheltenham Racecourse today with the Utility Warehouse Swindon crew – a packed house but slightly less busy than my last visit to Cheltenham in March for Gold Cup day !.

A really good day – some great motivational speakers plus interesting feedback from the Telecom Plus management team regarding the performance of the company – increased revenues and customer numbers during the worst recession for years isn’t bad going is it ?

As a shareholder , distributor and customer I am of course , hopelessly biased but the facts speak for themselves – this is a well run company with a good management team that actually looks after it’s customers and distributors .

One snippet that peaked my interest – Utility Warehouse now providing feed -in tariff for households with solar power/photovoltaic cells which is the best rate available .

First job for Monday morning – a quick trip around North Swindon searching for houses with solar panels , who wouldn’t want the best feed-in tariff ?

The Rotherham Revival

Sep 03 2011 Published by under Uncategorized

After a difficult start to the League Two season , i.e. more losses than wins and an eventful mid week Carling Cup game Swindon Town fans were a little apprehensive about today’s home fixture against top of the table Rotherham .

An early kick off of 1215 to accommodate the Sky TV schedule ( as well as losing half the car park to the Arqiva outside broadcast units) meant a strange atmosphere pre match where it just didn’t feel quite right to play at this time on a Saturday .

However , it turned out to be a great game – Swindon played well , went 1-0 down and recovered , 2-1 down and recovered and eventually won 3-2 with a second half substitute Alan Connell scoring the equaliser and winner . We also saw a player from each side sent off , plenty of bookings and a referee who “knew he was on the telly” so to speak !!

So the pre match anthem of La Donna E Mobile ( the lady is fickle ) also applies to certain Town supporters who now recognise that the manager is a tactical genius rather than an Italian chancer.

Up The Town !

Rockin' Robin And The Rockettes !
